33rd Coeur d'Alene Marathon @ Riverstone

33 ANNUAL COEUR D''ALENE MARATHON: Scenic Views & Boston Qualifier.

The North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation is excited to announce the 33rd annual Coeur d''Alene Marathon to be held Sunday, May 30th. Also taking place will be the 19th annual Half-Marathon and timed 5K fun run.

Once again, starting and finishing on Riverstone''s Main Street, the 2010 race will lead participants through Coeur d''Alene and out along scenic Coeur d''Alene Lake Dr. Race Director, Mac Cavasar explains “this course guarantees spectacular views of Lake Coeur d''Alene and the Spokane River, making it one of the best courses we''ve ever put together.”

The North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation, who owns and operates the event, believes that Riverstone''s sponsorship is crucial in preserving the quality of this wonderful race. “We are so thrilled to host the marathon, which is at the heart of Coeur d''Alene''s evolution into an endurance sport destination”, commented Riverstone Development Manager Mark Hensley. The North Idaho Centennial Trail runs right through Riverstone, Coeur d''Alene''s new and popular live, work, and play riverfront community which is made up of upscale condominiums, businesses, restaurants, as well as a 10-acre park and lake. Race director Mac added “It just makes sense to have the race here- we have all the amenities we need, such as parking, food, hotel accommodations and of course, the Centennial Trail.”

The Foundation has operated the Coeur d''Alene Marathon for the past five years and relies on the marathon as its major fundraiser. "We''re very fortunate to have a premier event like this. Every dollar the race earns go right back to into our organization. It gives our foundation a greater ability to carry out our mission to preserve and develop the North Idaho Centennial Trail System," said Charlie Miller, Foundation Manager.

Despite a long winter, the 2009 races boasted over 1800 runners total; representing almost every state and 2 countries. It can only be assumed that 2010 will be even more of a success. Race registration is available online as well as at Fleet Feet and other local businesses throughout the community. Late registration begins May 15.
