Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour 2007
The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will be shown at the Boswell / Schuller Auditorium on Sunday night, January 28, 2007 at 7:00pm. Doors will be open at 6:00pm. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation. Tickets are $10.00 and available at all North Idaho Zip’s Drive-in locations. Tickets are also available in Coeur d’Alene at Vertical Earth and the Camera Corral and in Hayden at the Ski Shack.
The Coeur d’Alene showing will have seven different films including Asiemut– voted People’s Choice in Banff. Asiemut is Olivier Higgins and Melanie Carrier’s account of their first cycling expedition, 3,500 miles across Asia. In six months they pedaled from Mongolia to Calucutta, India. In the process they not only discovered the world but themselves. Also to be shown is Yes to the No – a look into the sport of noboarding, which is snowboarding without the use of bindings. With noboarding, surfing truly comes to the mountains.
As with each year’s showing of the Banff Mountain Film Festival, films are produced worldwide with diverse content such as mountain sport to mountain culture and the environment. Last year’s winners of the 2005 Banff Mountain Photo Contest will also be exhibited the night of the show and will include 18 of last year’s winners in the Banff Mountain Photography Competition.
